Brigadier Motantsi Makhele, Vrystaatse polisiewoordvoerder, het aan AfriNUUS bevestig dat vier mense dood en verskeie ander beseer is nadat ’n vragmotorbestuurder na bewering vroeër vandag beheer oor sy voertuig verloor het. Die vragmotor het in mense by die Maseru-grenspos naby Ladybrand ingeploeg.

Daar word verder beweer dat die vragmotor ook in ’n stilstaande taxi vasgery het en nog mense getref voordat dit in ’n rivier beland het.

23 mense beseer is beseer, terwyl die bestuurder van vragmotor kritiek beseer en hospitaal toe geneem is.

Slagoffers is na nabygeleë hospitale gehaas.

FOUR PEOPLE KILLED AND SEVERAL INJURED AT MASERU PORT OF ENTRY

LADYBRAND:  A truck lost control and ploughed into pedestrians near Maseru Port of Entry this morning, injuring several people and killing four.

On Tuesday , 14 February 2023 at about 08:00 the police were called to a horrific scene of accident at the Port of Entry. A truck driver allegedly lost control of the truck, causing it to crash into vendors and commuters standing around, eventually collided with a stationary taxi, and hit more people before ending up in the riverbed at the Port of Entry. This far Police found four people who died and 23 people who were injured. All emergency personnel and police were called to the accident scene. The driver of the truck was critically injured also taken to the hospital.

All patients were taken to the Hospital in Ladybrand. The police are still on the scene to determine the cause of the accident. A case of culpable homicide is being investigated.
